软件的未来并非你所想
Ahmad Al-Dahle, former head of AI at Meta and current Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Airbnb, has articulated a vision for the future of software that challenges conventional thinking, encapsulated in his article "The Future of Software Engineering Isn't What You Think" published in February 2026.
According to Al-Dahle, the evolution of software engineering will shift away from the mechanical act of writing code. Instead, the core value of software engineers will reside in their ability to understand problems, make crucial decisions, and design robust systems. He posits that as artificial intelligence increasingly handles the automated aspects of coding, the indispensable qualities for engineers will be strong judgment, systems thinking, and keen product intuition.
Al-Dahle emphasizes that an engineer's years of experience were never solely about mastering syntax or typing speed. Rather, this experience cultivated an intuition for how systems behave, how users interact, where complexities lie, and how to make the myriad small decisions that collectively define a quality product. He argues that AI will not replace this deeply ingrained intuition but will, in fact, amplify its importance. In this future, the boundary between product thinking and engineering thinking is expected to become increasingly indistinct, potentially vanishing altogether. The most valued engineers will be those who can precisely and subtly define intent, rather than those who can merely implement specifications rapidly.
